The country will officially implement it from February 1, 2026《Regulations on Promoting National Reading》，Designate the fourth week of April each year as「National Reading Week」。The Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will also annuallyApril 23rd（World Book Day）conclude as「Hong Kong National Reading Day」，Further promote reading to all citizens in Hong Kong.


In response to the National Reading Promotion Ordinance and the Hong Kong National Reading Day, the Hong Kong Publishing Association has successfully organized the "2024 Hong Kong Reading+" and "2025 Hong Kong Reading+" events in the past two years, which have received very positive feedback from various sectors of society and the publishing industry. On this basis, this year, with the support of the Cultural and Creative Industry Development Department, the event will be held from April 18th to 26th, 2026 at the Shatian New City Plaza Phase I「2026 Hong Kong Reading+」Reading Carnival，And a series of community extension activities will be launched throughout April to promote nationwide reading into communities, campuses, and everyone's lives.

The '2026 Hong Kong Reading+' will hold a total of 13 reading event tours from April to May, extending reading promotion to different communities and spaces, allowing citizens to engage with reading in a more diverse way.


The parade activities cover experiential workshops, exhibitions, guided reading groups, music sharing sessions, book launches, etc. The themes span different fields, arousing curiosity and exploration through scientific exploration stories, exploring classical poetry landscapes, and combining elements such as music and sports to connect reading with daily interests, attracting citizens of different ages and backgrounds to participate and expanding the possibilities of reading.


Under the theme framework of "Reading Journey", the event invited several social elites to share their reading experiences。Ms. Luo Shupei, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region GovernmentIn the "Hong Kong Reading+" series of recommended book videos，I personally introduced and recommended our school The book "Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Schools" by Dr. Zhang Ziling, the school supervisor.

Zhang Ziling, the supervisor of the school, is a descendant of the famous Cantonese opera performer Bai Jurong. The book not only introduces different schools of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong, but also starts from its historical origins, sorts out its development trajectory, covering industry classification and many representative figures.


Director Luo herself is a fan of Cantonese opera. She pointed out that even readers without a basic understanding of Cantonese opera can establish a systematic understanding through this book,「Can you get to know the origin, development, and current situation of Hong Kong Cantonese opera in one go」，In order to gain a deeper understanding of the value of this intangible cultural heritage. She also encourages citizens to approach local traditional art through reading, cultivating their understanding and interest in Cantonese opera.
